I’m delighted to be invited to the April 2023 Marvelous Monthly Series Blog Hop and create three projects for this release. My first project was using Altenew’s Festive Flower Foil Plate and Stencil. This post includes two examples of alternate ways I used this flower.

The second project was another equally fun creation: Altenew’s Esplanade Stamp. Just by changing the color of the card base, you can change the look of the design. The possibilities are endless. I enjoyed this because it is different and shows embossing powder and alcohol inks on plastic. This stamp works beautifully with the process.

Lastly, I used the Altenew Craft Your Life Engraved Motifs kit. It has a gorgeous flower stamp, stencil, embossing folder, and die. Again, the possibilities are endless.

Altenew Festive Flower Foil Plate and Stencil

Card 1 – Black Background

I foiled the flower on black paper, using the stencil and the Altenew multi-media ink with a blending brush I colored the flowers in. As you can see, this created a different look on the black paper. A circle die was used to create a frame using another piece of black cardstock. Four die-cut Hello sentiments were glued together and attached to the top of the card. Pearls were added to add a little texture.

Card 2 – White Background

Different backgrounds with the same colors in both projects resulted in different results. The ink colors were vibrant looking on the white foiled design. I used watercolor paper for the background and inked half of the card base using the stamp pad. This produced a rich, juicy coating. Using a lighter color on the bottom half promoted a blended look but didn’t create a line. I used darker ink to create a splatter effect. When the card base dried, I used Altenew’s Motifs Embossing Folder. The Hello sentiment was cut four times and glued together to create dimension. I used foam tape to attach the foiled image and placed the sentiment over it.

Altenew Esplande Stamp

Alcohol Inks are one of my favorite mediums to use. I have included two examples of the same technique using a different color card, and it changes the look. This Dura-Lar is heat resistant and handles beautifully. I put three colors of alcohol inks on a piece of felt and squirted the blending solution on top. Pouncing on the Dura-Lar resulted in a speckled look. Afterward, I turned it over and put it on my stamping platform.

The Esplanade Stamp set had two stamps, an outline stamp, and a filler-stripe stamp. I used the filler-stripe flower and leaves stamp and placed them on the side of the plastic that was not inked. After pouring Rose Gold Embossing Powder over the Versa Mark stamped image, I heat embossed it.

I suggest letting your heat gun get hot but not holding it on the image too long. This will prevent warping.

See how the same embossed sheet looks with different color cardstock.

Craft Your Life – Engraved Motifs

The last project was pretty easy. I stamped the flower on white cardstock, embossed it, and taped the stencil to the first part of the flower. The media inks blend so well; it just takes on a creamy look. Use the die and cut out the flower. Spray a light water mist on watercolor paper and use the embossing folder. I propped the flower with foam tape and put it on embossed paper. After using some embossing powder on the sentiment, I cut it out and again used foam tape to affix it to the card.
