This project was out of my comfort zone. I first used this Dahlia stencil, and couldn’t make it work for me so I put aside for a long while. I picked it up again and tried to use some Black Alcohol Ink paper. I taped the stencil to the paper, and got some of my Caran d’Ache pencil colors I thought I might use.

I started coloring with the darker colors in the center and working my way out. I like these pencils because they are soft, and seem like they just blend the colors. I spent about 1/2 hour playing and blending until I decided to quit. I would probably have gone a little lighter if I were to do it again.

I used the Nuvo Drops for the center and created a sparkly sentiment. Adhered to a top folding green background card. The card looks much better in person, than the lighting in the picture. There is a sheen that I believe the pencils made that can’t be seen on the photo which I really like.

Enjoy!
Pencils on alcohol paper! That’s a new one! This turned out great, I do love the shading on the petals.
